Canon point: End of The Legend of Huma, when he dies.
Personality: Magius is a man who has found himself. Through suffering, and through seeing how evil seeks only self-aggrandizement, he has literally had his eyes opened to the darkness of the world, and of being selfish. While not a man who is completely selfless, he is newly dedicated to the service of the common man, and to helping those in need. His change of spirit was so great that the Gods of Good chose to send a visitation upon him while he was in durance vile, and his robes changed to shimmering white as a sign of his dedication to Good.
He believes that magic holds the key to helping people and to improving life, and has dedicated his life to learning more and more magics. He has been a scholar, as a result, and something of a treasure hunter, for spell components do not come cheap. He has little in the way of knowledge of how people act around one another, or social graces, as he has been a recluse and a shut-in with magic and studies most of his life. Only recently did he open his eyes and heart, and find more, which, ironically, led to a renewed sense of purpose, and his near-death. Being rescued from that place will give him a chance to explore his newfound feelings and purpose.
Death: Tortured to death
Abilities & Talents: Magius possesses the inbred ability to wield magics of various kinds. He also possesses the trained ability to touch any arcane source of magic and use it to cast spells. The method of spellcasting he has learned involved studying a spell pattern laid down in a book or scroll and memorizing it. Then he uses the words and components to cast a spell. On his homeworld of Krynn, he also taps into the magic of his Gods to perform greater magics. In this new world, he is blocked from that, allowed only the lower levels of spells. Without access, he will have to learn how to tap into other sources of magic, and use other kinds of magic, reinventing spells, or adopting new ones.
The staff he bears also possesses several inborn powers, including, at command, the ability to melt locks(including magical ones), a hitting force equal to that of a large boulder, the ability to float a holder from a great height gently downward, the ability to bring light or darkness, the ability to shock anyone who is not the chosen user with a severe shock, and even to drive them insane, and the power to temporarily remove pain from one who is suffering. The staff's powers can be activated remotely by will, and the staff can be called to the wielder's hand by will.
One of his pouches is a pouch of holding, which is capable of holding up to a storeroom of 10' x 10' worth in it.
Weaknesses: Away from his world, he has access only to those spells which are allowed to be learned from normal magic. He must study his spells every day, and memorize them in order to be able to cast them.
